We start from Lake Tabatskuri (1991 m). We'll hike through alpine meadows with views of Tavkvetili (~2,583 m), an ancient stratovolcano. Then we head toward the volcanic slopes of Shavnabada and Shavi, crossing boulder fields and rhododendron thickets as we gain elevation. We'll camp at the foot of Kyzyldag (the Red Mountain) on the shore of a high-altitude lake (~2,714 m).

We cross a 3,000 m pass and head toward Lake Levani (2,565 m), often called one of the main gems of the Abul-Samsari Range. We'll camp right by the lakeshore.

We’ll cross the plateau and hike up to the Shaori megalithic fortress. It’s built with dry cyclopean masonry, featuring walls several meters high. Then we head down to Lake Paravani (2,073 m) to the village of Tambovka, where our ride picks us up for the trip back to Tbilisi.
