We head out from Tbilisi toward Kakheti. First, we'll catch the views over Eagle Canyon and climb up to Khornabuji Fortress, which looks like it's floating on a cliff edge right above the Alazani Valley.
We'll get our permits sorted at the park office and can check out the local museum if you're up for it.
Then we drive through the savanna to the Iori Reservoir to see some real baobabs. Next stop: the Kilakupra and Takhti-Tepha mud volcanoes. The landscape here is straight off another planet—blue-grey clay, bubbling mud, and cracked earth. After looping through the savanna and hitting both volcano spots, we head back to Dedoplistskaro for dinner and a good night's sleep.
We’ll cruise through the park, stopping at the best viewpoints. First up is Bear Gorge — a narrow, scenic canyon where scientists found remains of prehistoric cave bears and even mammoths. Next, we head to Pantishara Canyon. This wide gorge features the park’s iconic Alesilebi cliffs. We’ll drive along a dry riverbed, stopping in the most stunning spots to hike around and grab some photos. We’ll also hit a viewpoint with views that’ll leave you speechless.
