adventure tour in Imereti

about the tour

A two-day adventure in Imereti: Dzudzuana Cave, Katskhi Pillar, via ferrata, hiking, and swimming in a wild waterfall. This is one of our most packed yet accessible tours. You don't need to be an athlete — you just need to be up for an adventure. Imereti knows how to surprise: here you can walk in the footsteps of ancient humans, explore wild caves, climb a via ferrata, and ride a swing over the abyss.
Difficulty: we'll be hitting several short trails during the trip. The path to the small waterfall is super easy with a couple of river crossings.
The trail to the big waterfall is a bit longer and steeper, but still totally manageable.
About the via ferrata: it’s a rock section equipped with metal rungs and a safety cable system to make climbing easy. It’s not technically difficult—it feels like climbing a ladder—but you get the thrill of being a real rock climber. Not recommended if you have a serious fear of heights. You can skip the via ferrata if you prefer; in that case, the tour price is 100 GEL lower.

Itinerary

Day 1:
Tbilisi → Dzudzuana Cave → Katskhi Pillar → Via Ferrata → Waterfall → Campfire night
We’ll kick off our journey at Dzudzuana Cave. This is the real deal: no fancy lights, railings, or paved paths. Just silence, cool air, and the realization that the world's oldest woven thread was found right here. It feels like stepping into a real archaeological expedition.

Next up is a place that looks almost surreal — Katskhi Pillar.
A 40-meter limestone monolith where a monk named Maxime lives in total solitude at the top. We’ll hike up a trail to catch the best view of the pillar from above.
*Climbing up to the monk's cell is not allowed.

From there, we head to the Sveri climbing camp. We’ll grab some tea, gear up, and tackle the rocky via ferrata — a 50-meter climb on a secured route with safety cables. We’ll pass through a cave along the way, and at the finish line, swings over the cliffs are waiting for us. Right after the ferrata, we’ll head to a nearby waterfall.

In the evening, we’ll hang out by the campfire and recharge.

*The campsite has proper showers, so you can freshen up after the via ferrata. There’s also a kitchen where you can brew coffee, have tea, or heat up food.
Day 2:
Hike to the big waterfall → rock climbing → cave church → Chiatura
Wake up slowly, have breakfast at camp, and get ready to hit the trail.
Today we’re hiking a scenic path to a second, more remote waterfall where you can take a dip.

Once we’re back, we’ll have some free time. If you’re up for it, you can try out some climbing basics.

Our final stop is a cave church perched right at the top of the cliff.

On the way back, we’ll stop in Chiatura, the city of cable cars and mines. We’ll grab lunch at a local spot there before heading home.
