Dashbashi Canyon and Javakheti Petroglyphs

07:00 – Meet up and head out from Tbilisi

09:00 – Arrive at the petroglyphs.
Checking out ancient rock carvings — some are thousands of years old, dating from the Mesolithic to the Middle Bronze Age.
These petroglyphs are special because they're the only prehistoric rock art of this kind ever found in Georgia.
Time to snap some photos and get a closer look at the rock art.

10:30 AM – Heading to Khramgesi village.
To reach the village, we need to drop 400 meters down from Tsalka into the river canyon! On the winding way down, we'll make two quick stops to check out an old German earthen church and a pretty unique engineering feat — a cascade hydroelectric station with pipes plunging 370 meters down the mountain, and one of its buildings hidden 164 meters deep inside the rock.

11:30 – Arriving at the start of our hike through Dashbashi Canyon and along the Khrami River.. We'll dive into the canyon atmosphere, head down to the Khrami River, and enjoy a trek through the woods and water. This takes about two hours, depending on the group's pace.
Walking along the river with its stony and sometimes rocky banks, small rapids, and stunning views is an unforgettable experience. The highlight of this section is a hidden, incredibly beautiful waterfall that most people don't even know exists.

1:30 PM – Climb to the quarry
We'll start our trek along an old, overgrown trail leading to an abandoned quarry. We'll take a quick break here to refill water at the spring and check out the quarry ruins. Then, we'll keep climbing toward a vertical stone wall that shoots up nearly 300 meters, letting the raw power of the canyon sink in.

14:00 – Lunch break
Once we reach the stone wall, we'll pick out a massive boulder—one of the giants that broke off the cliff ages ago—and settle in for lunch. It's the perfect spot to kick back and soak up the nature around us.

2:40 PM – Stone field, ancient settlement ruins, a walk across the stone mountain, and returning to Khramgesi village.
After lunch, we'll explore the area around our camp—a stone field that looks like it was built from millions of massive boulders. We'll scramble through the moss-covered ruins of an ancient settlement.

4:00 PM – Heading back to Khramgesi village for our transfer. On the way, we'll go hunting for the "ice cave" or "medieval fridge"—a natural wonder that every local talks about, but nobody seems to know exactly where it is... except us! :)

5:00 PM – Arriving at the trailhead for the "ice cave." It's a light, short hike, but packed with adventure vibes.

7:00 PM – Heading back to Tbilisi. We're returning to Tbilisi, the drive takes about 2 hours.

9:00 PM – Arrival in Tbilisi

What to bring:

• Water shoes (or a change of shoes)
• A change of clothes — to swap into after the river walk or a dip in the waterfall
• Long sleeves/pants and high socks — we'll be heading through blackberry thickets
• Hat and sunscreen
• Water and snacks
• Optional: trekking poles, windbreaker
