Green Lake
The first night's camp is by the Green Lake. Climbing straight to 3300m without a stop lower down is a bad idea, so camping by Chaukhi with a view over the Abudelauri valley is already part of the adventure
A two-day crossing from Khevsureti to Kazbegi over the Chaukhi Pass (3338 m), with an overnight stay by the Green Lake and a side trip to the Blue and White Lakes.
A two-day signature trek from Khevsureti to Kazbegi: a night by mountain lakes and a crossing of the Chaukhi Pass (3338 m) with views of the Chaukhi massif
The first night's camp is by the Green Lake. Climbing straight to 3300m without a stop lower down is a bad idea, so camping by Chaukhi with a view over the Abudelauri valley is already part of the adventure
A light side trip without backpacks to the White Lake, the highest and most untouched of the three. In the evening we watch the sunset over the valley, and at night the stars. Up here in the mountains the sky is completely different, free of city lights
Sunrise, breakfast, then the climb up the switchbacks to Chaukhi Pass. With every turn of the trail new views open over the Abudelauri valley, the colorful lakes below growing smaller. At the top, one of the highest passes in Georgia
The descent into the Juta valley, one of the most beautiful stretches of the whole route. A part of the valley that 95% of tourists never reach, with a close encounter with the Chaukhi massif almost right against its walls
Tbilisi → Roshka → Green Lake → Blue Lake (side trip). ~7 km, ↑650 m. We drive to the village of Roshka in Khevsureti and gradually gain altitude toward the Chaukhi massif, camping by the Green Lake for a smooth altitude adaptation. After a rest we walk light to the nearby Blue Lake, then spend the evening by the campfire with a view of the rocky peaks.
