Tour Itinerary
Join us for a three-day journey along the scenic Abul-Samsari Range in Javakheti!
We will start at the high-altitude Tabatskuri Lake, then pass through volcanic peaks and frozen craters, spend nights by mountain lakes, and conclude our expedition at the majestic Paravani Lake, where comfortable transportation will take up back home.
Day 1
Distance: 15 km, Elevation gain/loss: 1050/350 m Start at Tabatskuri Lake (1,991 m). We will walk through alpine meadows, enjoying views of the slopes of Mount Tavkvetili (~2,583 m), an ancient stratovolcano. Part of the route will take us over scree and through rhododendron thickets.
Overnight stay at the foot of Kyzyl-Dag (Red Mountain) on the shore of a high-altitude lake (~2,714 m).
Day 2
Distance: 8 km, Elevation gain/loss: 500/600 m A steep ascent to Levani Lake (2,565 m), located on the ridge of the Abul-Samsari Range. We'll spend an evening in the quiet of the mountains, with dinner and an overnight stay by the lake.
Day 3
Distance: 13 km, Elevation gain/loss: 200/650 m In the morning, we'll reach Paravani Lake (2,073 m) — the largest lake in the region. We'll continue to the village of Aspara, where our hike ends. Here, we meet our transfer and return to Tbilisi.
Optionally, on our way back we can stop in Tsalka and enjoy some incredibly delicious local fish.
