Day 1
Meet the Group and prepare for the trek
We set off early from Tbilisi and Batumi, heading toward western Georgia. The group gathers in Zugdidi, where we get acquainted and enjoy lunch at a cozy local restaurant.
Next, we travel to the village of Mukhuri, the starting point of our journey. Here, we’ll relax at a guesthouse, go over the route details, and make final preparations before the trek begins.
Day 2
Ascent to Mount Natipuru and Trek to Lake Okhoje Distance: 8 km Elevation Gain: 1160 m Descent: 660 m
We start our day by switching to off-road vehicles and ascending to the trailhead at Mount Natipuru (2,055 m). From here, our trek begins: the path winds through blooming alpine meadows, descends into a serene coniferous forest, and leads to stunning waterfalls. We’ll take a break here to relax and enjoy lunch by a mountain river.
After lunch, we begin a gentle ascent to the Okhoje Pass. From this vantage point, breathtaking views unfold: rugged mountain ridges and the hidden embrace of the stunning Tobavarchkhili and Okhoje lakes.
After a short rest, we descend to our campsite by Lake Okhoje. Its peaceful blue surface, surrounded by rocky peaks, creates a sense of serenity, making it the perfect spot to unwind and connect with nature.
Day 3
Trek the way to Lake Tobavarchkhili Distance: 5 km Elevation Gain: 500 m Descent: 350 m
We'll trek to one of the most breathtaking spots on this trek—the legendary Lake Tobavarchkhili.
Our adventure begins with a climb to the East Toba Pass (2880 m), where we’ll be rewarded with unforgettable views: the turquoise surface of the lake nestled in a mountain valley and endless fields of blooming alpine meadows.
The descent to the lake offers diverse terrain—rocky sections and snowfields. Upon reaching the lake, we’ll set up camp, unwind, and immerse ourselves in the pristine beauty of the surroundings.
Day 4
Explore the Surroundings of Tobavarchkhili
This day is dedicated to visiting other breathtaking glacial lakes: Didgali, Kaliashi, and Ertskemi. These hidden gems rival Tobavarchkhili in beauty but remain secluded, accessible only to seasoned adventurers.
To reach them, we’ll ascend the northeastern ridge of the lake and descend into the valley below. The entire day will be spent exploring with minimal gear, swimming in pristine mountain waters, and soaking in the spectacular views. In the evening, we’ll return to our lakeside camp at Tobavarchkhili for a well-deserved rest.
Day 5
Descent to Magana Waterfall and the Jolora River Distance: 12 km Elevation: 300 m Descent: 2000 m
It’s time to leave Tobavarchkhili and descend along a new route. The path will lead us to the impressive Magana Waterfall, where the water plunges from a height, surrounded by rocks and greenery.
Next, we continue our way to the Jolora River, along which our overnight camp is located. Today’s route involves a significant descent, so it’s important to walk carefully, especially on the steep sections.
Day 6
Last Trek Day and Return Home Distance: 8 km Elevation Gain: 970 m Descent: 330 m
The final stretch of our trek leads us through Kimakhoma Shelter — the official endpoint of our journey. After a short rest, we'll transfer to a truck and descend to the village of Tsquri, where our transfer will take us back to Tbilisi and Batumi.
If you wish to prolong your journey, you can join an additional visit to the Black Sea coast at Shekvetili and Ureki — an ideal way to unwind after an exciting trek.
